About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up skin, muscle, cloth, and hair simulations for hero and secondary characters and creatures. Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing, building, and maintaining simulation rigs and setups;
  • Developing tools to assist in building simulation rigs and running shot simulations;
  • Running simulations, performing technical animation, and shot sculpting for shots in production;
  • Creatively troubleshooting and solving problems independently;
  • Receiving and addressing technical and creative feedback from supervisors and lead;
  • Working efficiently as part of a team or independently to complete assigned shots;
  • Meeting schedules and deadlines while maintaining the highest standards.
Requirements and Qualifications

To be considered for this role, applicants should have:

  • A high level of proficiency with industry-standard software such as Maya and/or Houdini;
  • Good knowledge of nCloth, nHair, and/or Vellum;
  • An excellent sense for physically based motion and understanding of animation principles;
  • The ability to clearly and effectively communicate complex topics relevant to Creature FX and connected departments;
  • Strong problem-solving skills;
  • The ability and willingness to multi-task;
  • Working knowledge of Python (and/or Mel);
  • At least 5 years of experience in film/animation/VFX.
Desirable Skills

In addition to the above requirements, experience with Ziva Dynamics, Houdini, Marvelous Designer, rigging, and Linux would be highly desirable.
