This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of a major new site, establishing a new function and influencing industry-leading standards. As part of a top-tier engineering team, you will collaborate with project managers and contractors to ensure the project's technical integrity.

The successful candidate will hold a pivotal role in the infrastructure team responsible for setting the requirements of a new shipyard that will build and commission Naval vessels. Key areas of focus include:

  • Technical Leadership: Establish mechanical engineering design, construction, and operational standards, providing technical and functional leadership and direction.
  • Design Certification: Arrange design certification reviews with the Chief Engineer to ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Technical Specifications: Develop and maintain technical specifications, procedures, and guidelines to support design and construction activities.
  • Quality Assurance: Review and approve mechanical engineering drawings, calculations, and models to verify compliance with established standards.
  • Project Monitoring: Monitor project designs and construction to ensure adherence to established standards and best practices.
  • Design Reviews: Conduct regular design and engineering reviews to assess adherence to best practices and identify areas for improvement.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support for resolving non-conformance issues and act as the go-to expert for complex engineering challenges within the discipline.

  • Decision-Making: Support decision-making processes by offering expertise on mechanical engineering methodologies and emerging technologies.
  • Risk Management: Assist in risk assessments and mitigation strategies related to engineering aspects, ensuring the safety and compliance of the shipbuilder's operations.
