We are seeking a skilled Nurse Specialist to join our team at Lifeblood. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in supporting our donors through their donation process.
Key Responsibilities- Greet and Interview Potential Donors: You will be responsible for greeting and interviewing potential donors to assess their eligibility and suitability to donate.
- Conduct Routine Medical Tests: You will conduct routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests to ensure the health and safety of our donors.
- Prepare Equipment and Supplies: You will set up machines, tubing, and collection bags to ensure a smooth and efficient donation process.
- Collect Blood and Blood Products: You will insert and remove needles safely to collect whole blood, plasma, and platelets from donors.
- Provide Clinical Oversight: You will provide clinical oversight and guidance to other team members to ensure the highest level of care for our donors.
- Manage Adverse Reactions: You will manage any adverse reactions that may occur during the donation process and provide instructions and physical assistance as needed.
- Monitor Donors Post-Donation: You will monitor donors after their donation and assist them in rebooking for their next donation.
- Nursing Expertise: You will need to have current AHPRA registration and possess excellent nursing expertise.
- Physical Demands: You will need to be able to occasionally lift between 9-22.7kgs and frequently stand, walk, and bend to set up and pack down machines and blood products.
- Flexibility: You will need to be flexible to work varied shifts on a fortnightly rotating roster from Monday to Sunday and be available to stay over nights to cover regional areas through Donor Mobile Units.
