Key Responsibilities- Establish Strong Relationships: Develop and maintain strong, supportive relationships with Aboriginal children and young people, their families, and communities.
- Family Support and Reconnection: Create and implement work plans to engage and prepare family networks, identifying necessary supports and wraparound services.
- Culturally Appropriate Support: Provide culturally sensitive and relevant information to DCP staff to contribute to prevention and intervention plans.
- Long-Term Family Support: Build and maintain a lifetime family support network for Aboriginal children and young people, ensuring their safety and well-being.
We are looking for a confident individual with excellent communication skills, able to establish strong relationships and maintain formal and informal networks with Aboriginal people through their kinship systems.
To be successful in this role, you will have the ability to identify and respond to needs and risks to safety, wellbeing, and development of children and young people. This will be supported by a demonstrated knowledge and understanding of children and young people in regards to development stages, vulnerability, and resilience.
About the BusinessThe Department for Child Protection plays a key role in the protection of children, young people, and their families within South Australia. Our department provides support to vulnerable children and young people to be safe, strong, and connected.
Essential QualificationsA degree-level qualification in Social Work, which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, is essential for this role.
Persons of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, who have the appropriate background and skills but do not have the essential qualification, may apply for and be engaged/assigned to the role of Social Worker and will be entitled to apply for any Allied Health Professional roles requiring a qualification in Social Work within the Department for Child Protection.
