Job Opportunity: Assistant Head of Boarding
At a leading educational institution, we aim to foster exceptional graduates through engaging learning experiences and our unique character.
The Assistant Head of Boarding will contribute to an aspirational culture of educational excellence by providing leadership to students, parents, and educators in the Boarding House. This role requires close collaboration with the Head of Boarding and Director of Senior School, as well as other senior school leaders.
- Support the Head of Boarding in administrative tasks, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations.
- Maintain a visible presence within the Boarding House, fostering a sense of community among residents.
- Contribute to planning weekend activities that promote socialization and enjoyment.
- Attend special boarding events as requested, demonstrating commitment to the role.
- Train and induct new boarding staff members, ensuring they are equipped to provide excellent support.
- Meet regularly with the Head of Boarding to discuss progress, challenges, and opportunities for growth.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of Boarding, aligning with the institution's goals and objectives.
- Supervise students during study periods, meals, and sporting activities, maintaining a safe and secure environment.
- Supervise weekend shifts, ensuring continuity of care and support.
- Run Boarding staff meetings, promoting open communication and collaboration.
- Work across a roster that includes mornings, evenings, and weekends, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
- Provide a safe and secure environment for students, upholding the institution's Catholic ethos.
- Foster quality relationships with boarding students, recognizing their individual needs and concerns.
- Develop a rapport with boarding students as individuals, understanding their strengths and weaknesses.
- Build relationships with boarding parents/guardians, maintaining open lines of communication.
- Ensure student safety and well-being on shift, prioritizing their needs above all else.
- Perform administrative duties, including reporting and documenting student behaviors and concerns.
- Display proven awareness of Indigenous and cross-cultural community needs, promoting inclusivity and respect.
- Provide academic assistance during prep, supporting students in their studies.
- Monitor student sign-in and sign-out procedures, maintaining accurate records.
