The Work Health and Safety Officer position provides operational WHS support to Brightwater's services and administrative support to the WHS team. This role is a key part of our commitment to ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for our staff and clients.
Key Responsibilities- Provide operational WHS support to Brightwater's services, including conducting risk assessments, developing and implementing safety procedures, and monitoring compliance with WHS regulations.
- Assist the WHS team with administrative tasks, such as maintaining records, preparing reports, and coordinating training programs.
- Collaborate with other departments to identify and mitigate potential WHS risks, and develop strategies to improve WHS performance.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, contractors, and suppliers, to ensure compliance with WHS regulations.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of WHS policies and procedures, and provide input on WHS-related projects and initiatives.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in safety and health, allied health, or related discipline (at least Certificate IV).
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of safety and health standards and regulations.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to liaise with diverse people in an informative, positive, and customer-focused manner.
- Experience in the use of safety management software (Solv Safety will be considered an advantage).
- Strong computer skills with sound knowledge of Microsoft applications (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel), with the ability to create visual reports.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to input and interpret data accurately and in a timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise tasks, work effectively under pressure, problem solve, and meet deadlines.
- Self-motivated and the ability to work unsupervised, as well as the ability to work collaboratively as a team member.
