About the Role

The Senior Policy Officer will play a pivotal role in driving evidence-based policies and strategies to enhance the social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

You will collaborate with a variety of stakeholders to deliver impactful policy recommendations and reports.

  • Policy Development: Analyse trends, challenges, and opportunities to develop high-quality policy papers, briefs, and submissions that align with organisational objectives.
  • Research and Evidence: Lead research initiatives, critically analysing literature, policy documents, and data to provide evidence-based insights for policy development.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, government agencies, and NGOs, to gather insights and foster consensus.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed reports and briefings that clearly communicate policy positions and research findings to inform decision-making.
  • Project Management: Plan, manage, and deliver projects from inception to evaluation, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and timely completion.
About You

To thrive in this role, you should be motivated by driving positive change and possess the following qualifications, experience, and skills:

  • A tertiary qualification in health or a related field, coupled with relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategies that deliver tangible and measurable outcomes in the not-for-profit or public policy sectors.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to draw on expertise in policy development and research to deliver high-quality, evidence-based policy recommendations.
  • Capacity to engage with diverse stakeholders to foster collaborative relationships and drive consensus on critical issues.

Estimated salary: $85,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on location and experience.
