About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Sport and Recreation Planner to join our team at the City of Greater Geelong. As a key advisor to the Council, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing sport and recreation strategies and plans that meet the needs of our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement sport and recreation strategies and plans that align with Council's policies and priorities.
  • Provide specialist advice to Council and the community on the planning and development of sport and recreation assets and land.
  • Monitor and respond to the changing needs of the community in the provision of sport and recreation opportunities.
  • Identify and pursue funding opportunities for sport and recreation related research, planning, and capital works.
  • Prepare reports and submissions for senior management and Council on sport and recreation matters.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will have a tertiary qualification in sports management or a related field and a minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role within the sport and recreation industry. You will also have excellent communication and project management skills, as well as a good understanding of the sport and recreation industry.

Essential Experience
  • Experience in the development of recreation strategies, plans, and policy.
  • Excellent communication skills, including negotiation, building relationships, and writing reports.
  • Good understanding of the sport and recreation industry.
  • Ability to work well with different people both inside and outside the organisation.
  • Experience in managing projects and prioritizing tasks.
  • Knowledge of trends and innovation in the sport and recreation field.
