Purchasing Officer Role

L3Harris is seeking a skilled Purchasing Officer to support the growth of our organization. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning, managing, and reporting on purchasing activities to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of materials and services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement effective procurement strategies to optimize supply chain performance and mitigate risks.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and resolve bottlenecks, ensuring seamless material flow and efficient use of resources.
  • Utilize ERP and reporting systems to manage purchase orders, track inventory levels, and analyze purchasing data to inform business decisions.
  • Proactively manage past-due purchase orders and expedite delivery to meet business needs.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, ensuring data integrity and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide timely and informative reports to support purchasing analysis and decision-making.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and sub-contractors, negotiating pricing and terms to achieve optimal value.
  • Participate in negotiations for long-term contracts and agreements, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
Management and Reporting:
  • Oversee day-to-day purchasing performance, ensuring timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Communicate cost variances and lead-time variances to the Procurement & Supply Chain Manager in a timely manner.
  • Review purchase orders to ensure all required documents are referenced prior to forwarding to suppliers and sub-contractors.
Essential Requirements:
  • Diploma in Business/Purchasing, Certificate IV in Business Administration, or equivalent experience and/or education/training.
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Office Excel and Word, experience using ERP/MRP systems.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Accuracy, thoroughness, persistence, and attention to detail, with ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to project a positive and professional image through in-person and telephone interaction.
  • Discretion with confidential and/or sensitive information.
  • Productive time management and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
