Sydney, New South Wales, Australia SafetyCulture Full time

We're Safety Culture, a rapidly expanding company dedicated to helping businesses improve every day. Our technology empowers workers to have a voice and leaders to make informed decisions.

We're constantly evolving our platform, integrating sensors, IoT, scalable architecture, and more. Recently valued at AU$2.7 Bn, we're investing in creating a better workplace for all. We're seeking talented individuals who value collaboration, growth, and learning to join our team.

The Role

As a Software Engineer in our Site Reliability Engineering team, you'll design, build, and run resilient systems. You'll foster a culture of designing for and expecting failure in production systems, encouraging learning and knowledge-sharing. You'll love solving complex cross-service and cross-domain problems and identifying root causes in intricate scenarios.

You understand the importance of analyzing past incidents and learning from them. As a team player, you're excited about working in a fast-paced environment where learning happens at the edge of your comfort zone.

In this role, you'll shape and mature our SRE culture, define processes for development teams, and enable the business to scale to millions of users. You'll drive our observability culture, enabling teams to diagnose cross-domain issues and building a unified experience of metrics, logs, and traces.

You'll coach engineering colleagues on systems reliability and fault-tolerance best practices, identify gaps in existing systems, and develop remediation plans. You'll improve metrics like MTTR and MTBF, promote sustainable incident response, and encourage blameless post-mortems.

We encourage involvement in the community, open-source work, attending talks and events, and experimenting with new technologies.

Your Time Will Be Spent
  • Engaging with Engineering teams on reliability and performance issues
  • Building out core capabilities like load testing, observability improvements, and advanced deployment mechanisms
  • Writing and maintaining Go modules providing fundamental capabilities to our applications (e.g., observability instrumentation)
  • Evolving Incident Management processes and engaging in post-incident reviews, driving our learning culture
  • Education and driving the SRE mandate across the organisation
What You'll Need

We're looking for someone with fluency in at least one modern programming language, a solid education in SRE concepts like SLOs, and experience with distributed systems and Unix/Linux systems internals or networking.

You should have excellent human-handling skills, an ability to build and maintain healthy cross-team relationships, and a balance of system-engineering skills with a product mindset and empathy with customers and product-engineering colleagues.

What We Offer

We offer equity with high growth potential, a competitive salary ($120,000 - $180,000 AUD), flexible working arrangements, professional and personal training and development opportunities, hackathons, workshops, lunch & learns, and a range of benefits.

Our office offers an in-house culinary crew, barista coffee machine, craft beer on tap, boutique wines, and a range of non-alcoholic beverages. We also have wellbeing initiatives, quarterly celebrations, and team events, including the annual global offsite.

We're committed to building inclusive teams and cultivating a sense of belonging so our people can bring their whole authentic selves to work each day.
