Buyer - Apparel Professional

We are seeking a highly skilled Buyer to join our apparel team in Victoria. As a Buyer, you will be responsible for building and trading a department range/business group that delivers the strategy, vision, and financial KPIs.

You will work collaboratively with key stakeholders to build assortment plans to drive sales and profitability, in line with industry standards. Your responsibilities include:

  • Developing product ranges
  • Executing end-to-end critical path to ensure launch dates are met
  • Translating customer insights and market trends into architecture and option plans
  • Establishing a clear pricing strategy and working collaboratively with stakeholders to balance fashion, quality, and style to drive transaction growth
  • Collaborating with the Planner to ensure the option framework achieves financial KPIs and briefing the design team accordingly
  • Identifying opportunities through trade analysis and implementing actions
  • Leveraging customer insights and data to optimize sales
  • Proficiency across all relevant Merchandise Systems

The ideal candidate will have a tertiary qualification in Commerce, Business, or Retail, with at least 4 years' experience in Buying, Design, or Product Development within a specialty retail environment.

Demonstrated ability to lead supplier and sourcing strategies, implement merchandise strategies, and trade effectively within a season is essential. A solid understanding of the retail landscape and excellent stakeholder engagement skills are required.

Experience in digital/online buying would be highly advantageous as we accelerate our digital strategy.

Key Skills and Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualification in commerce, business, or retail (advantageous)
  • Understanding of product development and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to lead supplier and sourcing strategies
  • Experience in merchandise strategy implementation and seasonal trading
  • Strong knowledge of the retail landscape
  • Capability across Merchandise Systems
  • Understanding of relevant compliance legislation and guidelines
