Senior Education Specialist: Trauma Recovery and Resilience
Role OverviewThis is a part-time, permanent position that focuses on delivering trauma-informed education and support to teachers, parents, and caregivers in three assigned schools.
The role involves working with the whole school community to build capacity in recognizing and responding to children living with trauma. This includes providing formal professional development training, coaching engagements, participating in school leadership meetings, consultation for social-emotional support of students, planning wellbeing-focused capacity building opportunities, and classroom observations and teacher coaching.
Responsibilities- Deliver trauma-informed education and support across three assigned schools
- Lead the delivery of trauma-informed education and support
- Provide formal professional development training
- Coaching engagements
- Participating in school leadership/learning support team meetings
- Consultation to support social emotional support of students
- Planning wellbeing focused capacity building opportunities
- Classroom observations and teacher coaching promoting safety and regulation
This role requires exceptional leadership and communication skills, as well as expertise in mental health, childhood development, and trauma-informed principles. A strong understanding of key therapeutic frameworks and experience working with children impacted by trauma are also essential.
Requirements- Graduate or Postgraduate qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Education, or Creative Arts Therapy
- Minimum 8 years' experience working in settings such as Social Work, Psychology, Education
- Advanced working knowledge of trauma-informed principles and practices
- Current registration with a national professional body and WWCC number
