Key Responsibilities- Provide legal advice and services to support business operations, including compliance matters and transactional (commercial contract) matters.
- Work closely with the Procurement and Governance divisions to ensure effective legal and commercial risk management.
- Collaborate with colleagues from various specialisations to pursue desired outcomes while ensuring effective legal and commercial risk management.
- Prepare and deliver legal training sessions for staff at all levels to provide practical guidance.
- Review and amend policy documents to ensure currency with legislative reform.
- Be admitted as a lawyer in the state of New South Wales holding a current New South Wales practising certificate or being entitled to hold a New South Wales practising certificate authorising the holder to practice as a solicitor.
- Have at least two (2) years of experience in legal practice in a transactional or legal compliance role.
- Demonstrate high level professional judgment including recognising where external solicitors and / or barristers should be engaged for a matter.
- Have the ability to anticipate and manage problems in ambiguous situations, develop appropriate solutions based on thorough evaluation and interpretation, and justify conclusions with clear reasoning.
We are looking for a motivated and experienced legal professional who is eager to work with and report to colleagues from a variety of specialised (non-legal) fields. If you have a sophisticated understanding of the departments strategic commercial objectives, the purposes of the various services, internal and external stakeholder relationships, and the political context in which the department operates, we encourage you to apply.
