Electrical Engineering Manager Job Description

The Electrical Engineering Manager plays a key role in both engineering and management aspects. This individual provides supervision, direction, and technical input to the Electrical, Firmware, and Electrical Technician engineering personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Directs the technical work of the Electrical Engineering group.
  • Ensures compliance with design controls process.
  • Stays current with regulatory requirements for medical device development.
  • Reviews technical documentation for schematics, PCBA layouts, cables, circuit analysis, test plans, firmware review and regression tests, risk assessments, and technical documentation of final design.
  • Evaluates concepts and technology for new products, proposing alternate system requirements as appropriate.
  • Designs electrical circuits including analog, digital, communication, and power supplies.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering, specifically in the development of embedded electromechanical systems
  • 3+ years of experience in engineering management
  • Experience working in quality system regulated engineering environment; medical device experience is preferred
  • Ability to influence from a technical standpoint across engineering functions and the business

Technical Expertise:

  • Product specification and requirements documentation
  • Low noise analog circuit design
  • Microcontroller-based digital design
  • Firmware design using C and FPGA design using VHDL
  • Encoded stepper and DC motor control design
