Job Overview:

The successful candidate will lead the delivery of high-quality infrastructure and asset management outcomes for the community. This role is responsible for overseeing the design, delivery, and management of Council's infrastructure assets including roads, footpaths, kerb and gutter, stormwater networks, and marine structures.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineers to deliver infrastructure projects on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards.
  • Act as the asset owner for multiple asset classes, ensuring compliance with relevant asset management policies, strategies, and plans.
  • To manage the development and implementation of Asset Management Systems and Maintenance Management Systems.
  • Provide authoritative technical advice to stakeholders and the community on complex civil infrastructure designs.
  • Deliver effective project management including procurement, contract administration, and budget control.
  • Engage in high-level consultation and liaison with government agencies, contractors, and elected officials.
  • Drive innovation and sustainability in infrastructure planning and delivery.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering and Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status with Engineers Australia (mandatory).
  • Demonstrated experience in civil and building design, asset management, and delivery of civil works programs.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing professional engineering teams.
  • Extensive project management experience with proven budgetary and contractual oversight.
  • High-level communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Current Class C Driver's Licence.
