Persolkelly is a leading recruitment provider in Australia, specialising in the recruitment of professional, ICT, government, and management talent. We are currently working with the Western Australian Electoral Commission to provide a workforce for the 2025 state election.
About the RoleWe are seeking experienced professionals to work as Presiding Officers, Assistant Presiding Officers, Declaration Officers, Early Presiding Officers, and other roles at various polling stations across Western Australia. The selected candidates will be responsible for managing personnel, election resources, and polling places, ensuring that electoral procedures are followed.
As a Presiding Officer or Assistant Presiding Officer, you will be appointed by the Returning Officer to manage personnel, election resources, and polling places. You will ensure that electoral procedures are followed and supervise staff at the polling location. After 6 PM, your title may change to Assistant Returning Officer, where you will assist with the counting and reconciliation process.
The role involves working on weekends and weekdays, approximately 2 days, from March 8th to March 8th, 2025. You will receive in-person training before the elections. The pay rate for this position is $60,000 per annum, based on level 5.
Other Roles- Early Presiding Officers will work for up to 11 days before polling day and on polling day, managing personnel, election resources, and polling places. They will ensure that electoral procedures are followed and supervise staff at the polling location. Pay rate: $55,000 per annum (level 5).
- Early Issuing/Counting Officers will issue ballot papers, rotate as a ballot box guard and queue controller, and assist with packing up election resources and reconciling and counting ballot papers. Pay rate: $45,000 per annum (level 1.3).
- Mobile Presiding Officers will manage the operation of mobile polling at aged care facilities, hospitals, locations for homeless individuals, airports, and prisons. They will ensure that electoral procedures are followed and supervise staff at the polling place. Pay rate: $60,000 per annum (level 5).
- Remote Presiding Officers will manage the operation of mobile polling at remote locations, including visits to Aboriginal communities at set times. They will ensure that electoral procedures are followed and supervise staff at remote polling locations. Pay rate: $60,000 per annum (level 5).
