About The RoleThe Project Manager is responsible for planning, organising and delivering projects on time, to budget and within the scope and quality in project briefs. Projects are of a small to medium size across City Projects and generally to a total cost of less than $1 million. The role is accountable for the development and delivery of assigned projects including business case development, project planning, monitoring, reporting, quality management, contract management, stakeholder partnerships and communications management.
Responsibilities will span the full project development lifecycle with a focus on delivery including project scope and specifications, procurement/tendering, managing consultants, contractors and stakeholders (internal/external) to achieve the successful delivery of key milestones.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement project plans, timelines and budgets to ensure successful project delivery.
- Manage project scope, specifications, procurement and tendering processes to ensure compliance with City of Melbourne's policies and procedures.
- Lead and manage project teams, including external consultants and contractors, to achieve project objectives.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, including internal and external stakeholders, to ensure successful project delivery.
- Monitor and report on project progress, identifying and mitigating risks and issues to ensure successful project delivery.
- Ensure compliance with City of Melbourne's policies, procedures and standards, including safety and quality management.
- A relevant tertiary qualification to degree level in project management and/or related field such as Civil Engineering or equivalent experience in delivering civil works, streetscape and landscaping projects.
- 5 years' experience in buildings project management delivery of high value small to medium projects in a large and diverse organisation with multiple stakeholders.
- Proven ability to concurrently manage multiple projects on time, to budget and to client satisfaction within a structured reporting framework.
- Sound understanding of project management methodologies and a demonstrated understanding of standard forms of construction contracts and building industry practices.
- Proven ability to manage a project team of external consultants and contractors ensuring high level performance and taking decisive corrective action when necessary.
- High level relationship building and stakeholder management skills with the ability to deal with a diverse range of stakeholders with a broad range of expectations and client needs which are often of a competing nature.
- Highly developed analytical, lateral thinking and problem solving skills and the ability to take the initiative, drive change and continual improvement.
- High level communication skills with the ability to convey and effectively impart project information and negotiate and influence outcomes.
- Ability to work within a high pressure environment and effectively managing multiple priorities within a complex environment.
