The Role:

As a Prawn Hatchery Professional, you will be part of our team responsible for high-quality broodstock production in our Specific Pathogen Free Facility in Proserpine.

This hands-on role combines animal husbandry skills with technical expertise and sustainable aquaculture knowledge.

  • Maintain strict biosecurity compliance and ensure optimal hatchery operations.
  • Assist in daily tasks including feeding regimes, health monitoring, and prawn care.
  • Conduct routine water testing and system checks.
  • Accurately document hatchery activities.
  • Upkeep hatchery infrastructure, tanks, and filtration systems.
  • Troubleshoot issues and improve operational efficiency.
  • Adhere to workplace health and safety policies, aquaculture regulations, and company procedures.

Key Requirements:

  • Aquaculture or related experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Willingness to learn water quality testing, microscopy, and basic hatchery operations.
  • Meticulous adherence to procedures and identifying potential health or system issues.
  • Ability to perform manual tasks in a physically demanding environment.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and collaborative attitude.
  • Interest in aquaculture, animal health, and environmental responsibility.
  • Full working rights in Australia.
