About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Security Advisor to join our team at the No. 1 Space Surveillance Unit (1SSU). As a key member of our team, you will provide support and manage the Unit's security requirements, ensuring the safe and secure operation of our space domain awareness and missile warning functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice on protective security matters to stakeholders, ensuring accurate and timely advice in accordance with whole-of-Government policies.
  • Monitor and report on protective security tasks, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as needed.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand their needs and share information, promoting a culture of trust and openness.
  • Acquire and apply knowledge of protective security policy and procedures, staying up-to-date with the latest developments and best practices.
  • Take the initiative to identify opportunities for continuous improvement, providing recommendations to enhance our security operations.

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Security Advisor who can demonstrate strong skills and experience in:

  • General administrative duties, including writing and reviewing plans and processes.
  • Defence Security requirements, including understanding the need to know principle and dealing with sensitive information.
  • Stakeholder engagement, including building and maintaining positive relationships.

The successful candidate will be required to have or will be required to obtain a Negative Vetting level 1 security clearance before commencing in the role.
