Operations Manager

We are seeking an experienced professional to oversee daily production and logistics at a nursery site. This leadership role will be responsible for leading a team, achieving production goals, maintaining safety and quality standards, and ensuring smooth continuity of stock and customer orders.

This position involves supervising employees, managing inventory records, and ensuring that production goals and customer requirements are met. A horticulture background or qualification will be highly regarded, but we also welcome applicants with strong experience in bulk logistics or warehouse management, as these skills are highly transferable.

The role is both leadership-focused and hands-on. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and supervising daily production activities and assembly of customer orders
  • Organising equipment, machinery, and staff to meet production targets
  • Supporting and mentoring employees, delivering on-the-job training as required
  • Maintaining quality and safety standards across operations
  • Ensuring smooth stock movement, order flow, and dispatch coordination
  • Monitoring and maintaining accurate inventory records and contributing to quality accreditation
  • Liaising with managers, suppliers, and customers to resolve issues effectively
The Ideal Candidate
  • Degree/Diploma in Horticulture, Agriculture, or related field (ideal but not essential)
  • OR proven background in bulk logistics or warehouse operations management
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate teams
  • Excellent organisational, planning, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Solid knowledge of safety standards and procedures
