Spaceflight Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Spaceflight Systems Engineer to join our team responsible for the design, development, and testing of the New Shepard reusable launch vehicle. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the history of space exploration and make a significant impact on the future of space travel.
As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for flight control and actuated systems of the New Shepard reusable launch vehicle. Your responsibilities will include system architecture, requirements derivation, conceptual and detailed design, system performance modeling, structural analysis, manufacturing and integration support, development testing, and qualification. You will also participate in the definition of component groups, including design, specification, procurement, processing, testing, and discrepancy resolution of specific components.
To succeed in this role, you will need strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to quality. Passion for our mission and vision is required. We are looking for someone who can apply their knowledge and experience to positively impact safe human spaceflight.
Key Qualifications
- B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in aerospace development or similar industries.
- Demonstrated experience in aerospace or related industry in two or more of the following areas: Servo controlled hydraulic actuation, Electro-mechanical actuation, Mechanisms to deploy, lock, position, or similar application for high-reliability systems, Common aerospace structural materials and surface treatments, High-pressure fluid fittings, static seals, and dynamic actuator seals, Hydraulic and fluid systems modeling and analysis, Aerospace systems engineering principles and processes including requirements derivation, and verification planning and execution.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD programs such as NX, CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo, Pro/E, etc.
- Experience in analysis including hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Experience with GD&T analysis (ASME Y14.5).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Estimated Salary Range: $111,690-$156,366 per year
