About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Infrastructure Engineer to lead our Infrastructure Drainage team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing innovative and effective policies, strategies, plans, and practices for the effective management of the City's civil infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake a mentoring/coaching role that shares technical knowledge and experience with respect to civil infrastructure with other engineers and officers.
  • Adhere to and advance all Council's policies and procedures as relevant to this position and teams.
  • Actively contribute to the personal development of each member of the Infrastructure Unit to achieve optimum performance, operational, and professional goals.
  • Responsible for the development, prioritization, and handover of civil infrastructure work for translation into The City's future works program and subsequent close out.
  • Accountable for the financial monitoring and reporting of the units Capital Works program along with the preparation and development of any business cases and financial reports as needed.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will have a Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, enabling certification as a Registered Professional Engineer and extensive experience in Civil Engineering at a senior level, including several years in the field of road and drainage engineering.

Essential Experience
  • Demonstrated experience working with professional/technical staff, consultants, and contractors, managers, and stakeholders to resolve high-priority, and often sensitive and complex matters.
  • Demonstrates a high level of knowledge and leadership in the civil construction industry.
  • Excellent communication skills, including influencing and negotiating, rapport building, and report writing.
  • Demonstrated experience in investigation, analysis, and selection of roads and drainage treatment options, assessment, and analysis to ensure service delivery is optimized.
  • Ability to analyze complex and significant road and drainage issues and think laterally to come up with innovative and efficient solutions.
