Transport Operations Manager

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Transport Manager to lead our national transport operations. This role will involve planning, managing, and supporting the day-to-day transport operations for our Logistics Divisions in Roma (QLD) and Barrow Island (WA).

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and schedule Ensign transport, drivers, subcontractors, and camp assets to maximize efficiency.
  • Develop and review asset utilization strategies to maximize asset value.
  • Train, develop, and coach the Transport team to ensure relevant knowledge and skills.
  • Complete and maintain National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme (NHVAS) administration.
  • Represent the Company in government and private transport forums.
  • Prepare and coordinate government transport permits, insurance, and other required documentation.
  • Ensure safe and compliant operations by understanding government legislation and interpretation.
  • Oversee maintenance and servicing scheduling for the Australia fleet of vehicles.
  • Liaise with third-party operators and customers to build strong relationships.
  • Identify opportunities for business growth and revenue streams.
  • Monitor driver/transport compliance and safety requirements.
  • Ensure daily reporting is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience managing transport operations in the resources sector or similar heavy industry.
  • Preferred: Tertiary qualification in Logistics, Transport, or Supply Chain Management or relevant discipline.
  • Strong safety leadership qualities.
  • Strong commercial acumen, influencing, and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrate strong relationship building at all levels within the business.
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized with the ability to work calmly and efficiently in a high-pressure environment.
  • Able to work autonomously and manage own workload.
  • Possess a positive and solution-focused attitude.
  • Have a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite of products.
  • IVMS Knowledge (Preferred).
