Job Overview:

The Network Control Officer is a pivotal role in the operation of the Regional Linx CRN, responsible for managing day-to-day rail traffic movements and facilitating network access for maintenance activities 24/7.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate control equipment to authorize train movements, prepare, and issue authorities for train and track work requirements
  • Monitor train locations, progress, and record details as required
  • Respond to emergencies and irregularities, providing timely reports
  • Comply with safe working procedures, codes, and practices
  • Plan train and track work schedules to avoid conflicts
  • Issue instructions to rail crews and staff, ensuring events are performed correctly and reported on time
  • Ensure compliance with notices concerning signalling, equipment, and rolling stock alterations
  • Process Ad-Hoc Train Paths from operators within shift span
  • Assist track and other staff with reaching work destinations promptly for testing and assistance
  • Provide comprehensive briefings to relieving Network Controllers at shift end
  • Log matters affecting relief and ensure they are familiar with these at shift end
  • Participate in emergency and operational procedure reviews for continuous improvement
  • Provide technical training to trainee Network Controllers as part of their program
  • Perform duties in accordance with UGL Regional Linx policies, processes, systems, and procedures
