Job Summary

The State of Washington is seeking a highly skilled Produce Safety Inspection Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our Produce Safety Program, you will be responsible for conducting field inspections and investigations, supervising inspectors, providing technical assistance, and participating in training events throughout the state.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough field inspections to ensure adherence to established program standards.
  • Review and document required sanitation and other records.
  • Inspect on-site physical structures and associated grounds for compliance with standards.
  • Present inspection and investigation findings.
  • Maintain a fully trained status by completing all assigned training requirements.
  • Develop inspection standards and supervise Produce Safety Program statewide inspection staff.
  • Organize and participate in training events, including PSA Grower Training and advanced workshops.
  • Provide technical assistance to farms and support program-organized training events.
  • Develop and deliver training to staff and stakeholders.
  • Provide input to statewide Produce Safety Program compliance policies, procedures, and enforcement standards.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business, microbiology, food science, food technology, biochemistry, dairy science, environmental health, or a closely allied field.
  • Three years of equivalent public health regulatory experience or food manufacturing experience.
  • Prior experience as a working supervisor is highly desirable.
  • Prior experience working with the food industry and understanding of production agriculture in the context of public health practices.
  • Demonstrated experience with cooperative agreement programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in building programs, systems, and projects from scratch.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience developing and delivering training to staff and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in building programs, systems, and projects from scratch.
Special Requirements
  • Must hold and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Must have the ability to qualify for and obtain FDA Commissioning as required.
  • Must be able to provide their own functional home internet connection and sufficient workspace.
