About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team at Life Without Barriers. As a Support Worker, you will be responsible for providing high-quality support and care to young people who have experienced trauma, abuse, or neglect. Your role will involve creating a safe and nurturing environment, delivering personalized support, and helping young people develop independent life skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support young people to achieve goals identified in their Individual Case Plans
  • Assist young people to develop independence and build community networks
  • Support the young person's interests and hobbies
  • Establish a rapport and collaborate effectively with young people to achieve positive outcomes
  • Manage behavioural escalations and assist the young person to co-regulate emotionally
  • Domestic duties and supporting the young person to learn how to look after themselves
  • Communicate with the care team and report incidents promptly and accurately
  • Medication administration (when required)
  • Maintenance of progress notes and record keeping

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum qualification level - Certificate IV in Youth Work, Mental Health, or relevant qualification
  • Experience working with young people who have experienced significant trauma and neglect, including the management of behaviours of concern
  • Ability to demonstrate highly effective interpersonal skills with young people and stakeholders
  • Demonstrate confidentiality and have strong understanding of professional boundaries
  • Experience working with young people from indigenous or other cultural backgrounds
  • Current Provide First Aid and CPR certificates
  • Current Driver's Licence

Additional skills and experience in behavioural management approaches, including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), positive behaviour support, trauma and attachment, Sanctuary or CARE residential models, will be highly regarded.
