Position Overview

The Pact Packaging division is at the forefront of sustainable packaging, adopting a comprehensive product life cycle approach. We collaborate with global brands and local producers to integrate efficiency and sustainability into our designs and manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Fitter plays a crucial role within the site-based team. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing hands-on support for the maintenance and management of manufacturing assets.
  • Overseeing the maintenance budget and managing contractors.
  • Implementing strategies to enhance maintenance performance and asset reliability.
  • Maximizing asset utilization while ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and WHSE standards.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives to support operational goals.
  • Managing daily machinery operations, including preventative and breakdown maintenance.
  • Building collaborative relationships with production teams to ensure effective support and minimize downtime.
  • Planning for spare parts inventory and future repairs.

Essential Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • A strong focus on results and the ability to implement strategies effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of building relationships across all levels.
  • Proficiency in problem-solving mechanical issues with minimal disruption to production.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical trade qualifications.
  • Restricted or full electrical license is desirable but not mandatory.
  • 5-10 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Strong communication skills, from shop floor to leadership.
  • Proven ability to manage a preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills for emergency maintenance.

  • Experience in maintaining complex machinery.
  • Ability to create and uphold a preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Familiarity with industrial operations.
  • Experience in lean operations.
