We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Systems Technician to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our mechanical systems.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical maintenance, with experience in diagnosing, inspecting, repairing, refurbishing, and testing complex mechanical systems.

  • You will be responsible for performing routine inspection, repair, refurbishment, overhaul, and upgrade of mechanical systems and equipment.
  • You will diagnose mechanical issues, conducting component and subsystem-level tests, and collaborating with engineers to resolve complex issues.
  • You will operate our Maintenance Management System (MMS), ensuring accurate records of maintenance activities, parts, and consumables consumption.
  • You will conduct underway Sea testing of Autonomous Underwater Vessels (AUVs), ensuring they meet our high standards for performance and safety.
  • You will support the development, review, and trial of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and documentation for AUV maintenance activities operations.
  • You will assist with the preparation of risk assessments for maintenance and test operations, identifying and implementing mitigations.
  • You will provide constructive feedback to design and manufacturing teams for ongoing evolution.
  • You will be able to deploy to the field to perform emergency repairs when necessary, potentially in challenging conditions or adverse weather.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in maintenance of mechanical systems or structures.
  • A strong mechanical aptitude and hand-tool skills.
  • Vocational training in mechanical trades or an associate degree is ideal.
  • A Maritime trade background is desirable, as well as subsea experience or autonomous vehicle operation in any domain.
  • Proficiency in interpreting technical documentation (mechanical drawings, work instructions, equipment schematics, etc.).
  • Experience performing component, subsystem, and system level tests, and diagnosing/escalating issues discovered during these processes.
  • Exposure to operation of Maintenance Management Systems.
  • Extremely organized and detail-oriented.
  • A sincere commitment to a positive, inclusive, and collaborative culture.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an NV2 Security Clearance.
