Early Childhood Consultant Role

About the Position

The Early Childhood Consultant plays a key role in supporting early childhood educators, working collaboratively with them to enhance their capacity and confidence.

  • Enhance the capabilities of early childhood educators to deliver inclusive programs responsive to the needs of all children.
  • Provide expert advice, resources, and support to assist early childhood professionals in their daily work.
  • Help early childhood services link families with relevant support services for children with developmental concerns and broader child and family support.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage referrals from early childhood services, families, and specialist agencies effectively.
  • Collaborate with early childhood services to develop strategies promoting participation by diverse groups of children and families.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of clients and services, including reports for funding bodies using designated databases and filing systems.
  • Promote a positive image of the organization through professional standards and high-level customer service practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A strong understanding of evidence-based practice, child development, and planning/evaluating responsive early childhood programs.
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment, contributing skills as an equal and complementing colleagues' expertise.
Essential Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of National Education and Care Act, Child Safe Legislation, Early Years Learning Framework, National Quality Standards, and their application in early childhood services.
  • Broad experience in funded kindergarten programs in community kindergartens and/or integrated early childhood services.
  • Current Driver's License in the state of Victoria.
