About the Role

In this senior leadership position, you will oversee the City of Greater Geelong's Infrastructure Drainage team, responsible for developing and implementing innovative and effective policies, strategies, plans, and practices for the effective management of the city's civil infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, sharing expertise in civil infrastructure and promoting knowledge sharing within the organization.
  • Ensure adherence to and advancement of the City's policies and procedures relevant to this position and teams.
  • Contribute to the personal development of team members, fostering a culture of excellence and achievement of operational and professional goals.
  • Lead the development, prioritization, and handover of civil infrastructure work for translation into the City's future works program and subsequent close-out.
  • Accountable for the financial monitoring and reporting of the unit's Capital Works program, including the preparation and development of business cases and financial reports as needed.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have a Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, enabling certification as a Registered Professional Engineer, and extensive experience in Civil Engineering at a senior level, including several years in the field of road and drainage engineering.

Essential Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience working with professional/technical staff, consultants, and contractors, managers, and stakeholders to resolve high-priority and often sensitive and complex matters.
  • Demonstrates a high level of knowledge and leadership in the civil construction industry.
  • Excellent communication skills, including influencing and negotiating, rapport building, and report writing.
  • Demonstrated experience in investigation, analysis, and selection of roads and drainage treatment options, assessment, and analysis to ensure service delivery is optimized.
  • Ability to analyze complex and significant road and drainage issues and think laterally to come up with innovative and efficient solutions.
