Developing an AI Foundation Model Toolbox: A Research RoleThis role focuses on building a foundation model toolbox using historical, global and regional weather and climate data.About the Position

The position involves contributing to the technical development of a general-purpose toolbox with initial testing on climate risks to agriculture across the Asia-Pacific region.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the development of an AI-based foundation model toolbox, including data wrangling, code development, evaluation and application.
  • Collaborate in research with the team, leading key components at an internationally competitive level.
  • Lead significant international publications.
  • Establish a personal research portfolio and develop independent research proposals.
  • Support PhD students working on the project.
  • Be willing to travel for workshops.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • A PhD in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science or related field; or weather/climate science with strong technical skills.
  • Advanced programming skills in Python or C++; HPC and multi-GPU programming.
  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art AI models; track record in collaborative coding.
  • Strong communication, teamwork and ability to work across disciplines.
