Why be a Peerpoint Consultant?

A consulting career through Peerpoint is diverse, exciting, and immensely rewarding. As a Peerpoint consultant, you can have the opportunity to work:

  • In-house with one of our clients – one assignment could be stepping into a team to support a project, while another could be a senior manager role tackling regulatory change. Assignments can range from two to twelve months in duration and are usually worked four days per week.
  • In the Allen & Overy practice on an ad-hoc basis, supporting teams when needed or joining them for fixed periods to work on a deal.

We only take you on when we see a demand for your particular expertise, making sure there is a good chance we can provide you with work on an ongoing basis. We cannot guarantee work, but we are every bit as invested in moving your career forward as you are.

Flexibility of Consulting

The benefits of legal consulting are wide-ranging. You might want more control over your time, to be able to balance professional and personal ambitions such as family responsibilities, a business idea, studies, or hobbies. Legal consulting gives you the flexibility to remain in the workforce without putting the rest of life on hold.

You might want more choice and control over, or variety in, your work. Legal consulting enables informed decision-making about the future direction of your career, offering you the opportunity to work with different clients, sectors, and teams (including within Allen & Overy in some cases). It also offers flexibility and options, including the right to accept or decline potential placements or assignments.

Supporting You and Your Career Development

When you join our panel, you'll receive the full support of our dedicated legal consultant management team, but that's not all. Throughout the period of your assignment, you'll also have access to a huge suite of Allen & Overy resources, including:

  • An Allen & Overy partner or senior lawyer contact
  • Allen & Overy professional support lawyers and knowledge resources
  • Bespoke Peerpoint support, including individualised coaching, exclusive events designed to meet your training and networking needs, a specialised consultant development programme on transition management, mindset, and business planning, and specialised CV/marketing document training
  • Further training: Our consultants are invited to attend some of Allen & Overy's legal training and also have access to Allen & Overy's IT training courses
  • Client newsletters and seminars
  • Invitations to Allen & Overy networks, the Allen & Overy mentoring programme, and pro bono opportunities

As a Peerpoint legal consultant, you're never on your own; instead, you're part of a community of like-minded lawyers who have all chosen the self-directed route, who are keen to share their experiences and learn from one another.
