Job Title: Power System Engineering Developer Manager

This position presents an exceptional opportunity for a skilled professional to lead a diverse team of engineers and developers, driving the growth and development of power system applications and tools.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of IT Custodian, including the AEMO Modelling Platform, Phasor Analytics System, and Marginal Loss Factor Calculation. They will also support the uplift of engineering developer skills across the Operations business, ensuring alignment with enterprise patterns and cyber resilience.

  • Lead a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and developers, developing capabilities and talent pipelines to support upcoming projects and sustainable tool maintenance.
  • Manage the development and maintenance of applications and tools used for power system data management, modelling, and operational purposes.
  • Support Operations Technology Program Modelling uplift projects and AEMO Modelling Strategy initiatives.
  • Develop and implement training programs to uplift skills of developers within Operation's business teams and improve standardisation across the organisation.
  • Define business requirements for Operations projects, supporting successful interfaces between Operations and Digital teams.

The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of engineering and software development skills, ideally encompassing some or all of the following:

  • Appropriate tertiary and/or postgraduate qualifications in a related discipline.
  • Experience leading a software development team, including planning and delivering training for junior Engineers/Analysts and leading later career engineers such as Principals and Specialists.
  • Significant experience in the management of power system applications and automation tools, familiarity with online and offline power system applications, and knowledge of power system fundamentals.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, including version control, software development life-cycle, and data security.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage small-medium projects, including resourcing, time, and cost management.
