Software Engineer Position in Graphics and Windowing Systems

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join our team, specializing in the development of high-performance technologies for graphics and windowing systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering, excellent programming skills, and a passion for creating innovative solutions.


Responsibilities
  • Design and Implementation: Design, develop, and implement features across the Mir stack, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.
  • Debugging and Troubleshooting: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to debug, track down, and fix issues, maintaining a high level of quality and reliability.
  • Code Review and Architectural Development: Participate in code reviews and architectural discussions to ensure alignment with company standards and best practices.
  • Testing and Performance Benchmarking: Develop and maintain comprehensive tests and performance benchmarks to identify and address potential issues early on.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Create and maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration among team members.
  • Community Engagement and Partnerships: Engage with the open-source community, commercial partners, and other stakeholders to foster collaboration, drive innovation, and expand the company's reach.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 2+ years of professional experience in software engineering, preferably in a similar role.
  • Programming Skills: Excellent modern C++ programming skills, with a strong understanding of Rust programming principles and concepts.
  • Linux Familiarity: Proficiency in Linux as a development and deployment platform.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Ability to collaborate effectively with distributed teams, remaining highly motivated, productive, and organized in a dynamic environment.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Wayland Protocol Ecosystem Experience: Familiarity with the Wayland protocol ecosystem and compositors.
  • Graphics Toolkits and Animation Frameworks: Experience with OpenGL, Vulkan, Flutter, and other graphics toolkits and animation frameworks.
  • Asynchronous Programming and Concurrency Patterns: Solid understanding of asynchronous programming and concurrency patterns.
  • Delivering High-Quality Code: Proven ability to consistently deliver robust, high-quality code to production.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to document and present software developed.
