Job Title: Plating Process Engineer

About the Role:

This is a key position in our organization, responsible for developing and implementing metal and plastic finishing specifications and manufacturing layouts. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering and quality teams to ensure high-quality products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement metal and plastic finishing specifications and manufacturing layouts.
  • Establish and track quality assurance testing for connectors, including salt spray, tabor abrasion, and corrosion testing.
  • Evaluate new plating systems to improve product quality and reduce costs.
  • Provide engineering support for customer inquiries and review existing processes to ensure validity.
  • Coordinate corrective actions for out-of-control events in production and develop procedures to correct manufacturing defects.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related science.
  • 3-10 years of experience in electroplating or plating, preferably in an R&D or process-related position.
  • Experience in a multi-faceted metal finishing operation, producing finished parts for Aerospace, Military, and industrial applications.
  • Training in Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and Statistical Process Control.
  • Certifications in Six Sigma Green or Black Belt, Certified Electroplating Finisher (CEF), and AESF Foundation Master Surface Finisher (MSF) are desired but not required.

This role requires strong project management, problem-solving, and analytical skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of quality systems, process control, and manufacturing processing safety practices.

The employee must be capable of working in a chemical environment with hazardous materials and solutions, wearing appropriate PPE equipment. Occasional travel may be required, and the candidate must be eligible to work on defense and satellite programs subject to ITAR Regulations.
