About this role

At Urbis, we're seeking a highly skilled Urban Planner to join our Social Planning team. As a key member of our team, you'll play a vital role in shaping the future of our cities and communities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project manage a range of social planning projects for diverse clients and across diverse markets
  • Conduct primary and secondary research comprising qualitative and quantitative data collection, analysis of ABS and other publicly available data, literature and evidence reviews, social and public policy analysis, and community engagement
  • Monitor and review best practice trends across a range of social planning and social value issues e.g. social and affordable housing
  • Deliver high quality social planning projects across a range of land use types including residential, commercial, mixed-use, industrial, and renewable energy – with the support of senior team members
  • Respond quickly and communicate in a clear, concise and transparent manner to internal and external clients
  • Identify market opportunities for growth
  • Prepare written reports using accessible language and graphics to communicate complex information succinctly
  • Prepare draft proposals, tenders and submissions for projects
  • Work to specification and deadlines, and within commercial parameters – as competent project manager

About You:
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant social science discipline (e.g., sociology, human geography, anthropology, social planning)
  • A minimum of 4 years' experience and evidenced competence in application of social science research methods and/or SIA practice
  • A minimum of 4 years' experience in social planning and/or social sustainability is desirable, ideally gained in a consultancy or local council environment
