About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Renewable Energy Approvals Lead to join our team in Sydney. As a key member of our Environment and Society portfolio, you will play a pivotal role in driving growth and business development in our renewable energy approvals offering, with an initial focus on NSW.

As a Technical Director, you will be responsible for building and identifying new business opportunities, converting prospects into projects, and working closely with our Australian Environment and Society Portfolio leadership team to set the strategic direction and mature our approvals offering across our Australian business.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Leverage existing client relationships and build new relationships to secure environment and approvals work from key clients, with a particular focus on energy projects, including renewables and transmission & distribution.
  • Collaborate with our market and account leaders to bring the best of Mott MacDonald to our clients.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver environmental impact assessments for major infrastructure projects in energy, and bring your skills to transport, water, and social infrastructure markets as required.
  • Manage approvals projects across the project lifecycle from proposal through to delivery on projects.
  • Collaborate with interstate team members as part of business development and project delivery to deliver a nationally consistent client experience and quality.
  • Contribute to the promotion of our Environment and Society capability within the industry.
  • Mentor and guide junior staff members within the team.
  • Manage and coordinate relationships with sub-consultants to ensure successful delivery of major projects.
About You

We are looking for someone with prior experience within the consultancy industry, working with multi-discipline teams on complex projects. You should have a relevant tertiary qualification in environmental science, environmental engineering, planning, or similar, and experience in impact assessment or regulatory approvals for energy projects.

You should also have knowledge and experience of State and Commonwealth legislation and regulations, a proven history in identifying, winning, and delivering projects, and experience in a consulting environment with business development and client relationship skills.
