About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Land Management Operator to join our team at Simpson Barracks in Yallambie.

This permanent, full-time role involves undertaking daily operational duties as prescribed by the Land Management Team Leader to ensure safe, effective, and efficient land and grounds maintenance.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Operating mowers, tractors, small plant, machinery, powered and non-powered hand tools.
  • Maintaining gardens and lawns, including propagation, planting, and revegetation of diverse landscapes.
  • Performing general grounds keeping tasks such as debris and rubbish clean-up, cleaning of outdoor features, hardstand areas, line marking, managing injured or dead wildlife.
  • General gardening tasks including mulching, pruning, hedging, turf care, cleaning of storm water pits and open drains, applying chemical and fertilisers.
  • Conducting regular inspections and non-technical maintenance to ensure safety, operational condition, and presentation during service delivery.
  • Cleaning vehicles, grounds equipment, and small plant.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Certificate in Horticulture or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in a similar working environment.
  • Ability to operate a tractor under 4.5 tonnes.
  • Teamwork and problem-solving skills.
  • Working within an Environmental Management System.
