Job Title: Information Literacy Specialist">

We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Information Literacy Specialist to inspire our students through classroom practice, refined professional knowledge, and high-performance commitment.

The successful applicant will be expected to model these practices in their work, commit to professional development, and make contributions to the broader education community.

Classroom teaching is viewed as clinical practice, refining skills through an annual improvement cycle, including observed practice and 360-degree feedback for all teachers.

Staff are supported to develop expertise through initiatives such as Teaching Fellowships, Seeding Grants, and ongoing professional learning that develops and supports career growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guide students to become information literate citizens through facilitated guided inquiry across the curriculum.
  • Facilitate learning needs by engaging with classroom teachers and departments in identifying collaboration areas.
  • Develop the Library collection, promote independent thought, and foster a love of reading alongside academic and Library staff.
  • Have an innovative approach to libraries, reading, and information seeking.
  • Provide a welcoming environment and engaging lessons that encourage reading, learning, and creative thinking using various resources and media.
  • Be proactive in responding to users' changing needs and manage expectations effectively.
  • Provide training and assistance in systems and information retrieval processes to students and staff.
  • Support and implement School and Library policies, undertaking tasks as requested by the Head of Library and Information Services.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Library and Information Services to review the Library collection, ensuring relevance to curriculum, staff, and students, and weed collection as required.
  • Proactively develop strategies, programs, events, and activities to foster reading and literacy across the curriculum, responding to internal and external events, and develop habits of lifelong reading in students and staff.
  • Use selection tools to identify current trends in resources and literature, providing a user-centered approach to information delivery and dissemination.
  • Work as part of the Library team to ensure efficient operation and administration, maintaining systems, resources, and equipment, shelving books, acquiring and processing materials, and organizing resources and spaces for the smooth operation of the Library as a learning space.
  • Maintain awareness of contemporary practices and critically assess processes and activities, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing changes as appropriate.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Qualifications and experience in Teacher Librarianship/Education.
  • Ability to teach and aspire to effective teaching standards.
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum, assessment practices, and marking processes, including Australian Curriculum implementation in NSW.
  • Familiarity and experience with library procedures, cataloguing, and working knowledge of learning management systems (Infiniti and Canvas).
  • Commitment to pastoral care and meeting social and emotional wellbeing needs of students.
  • Ongoing commitment to professional learning, making contributions to the broader education community.
  • Understanding and commitment to the educational needs of young women.
  • Commitment to collaborative teaching practices and contributing to a team and faculty of professional educators.
  • Willingness to contribute to the broader life of the school community.
  • Ability to use ICT to facilitate and enrich student learning and engagement beyond the classroom.
