About the Role:


Webuild S.p.A. is seeking a highly skilled Drill and Blast Senior Project Engineer to join our team on the Snowy 2.0 project.


As a key member of our project team, you will be responsible for the management and implementation of a section of works to ensure time, cost, quality, safety, and contractual targets are achieved.


You will develop and implement procedures to achieve quality, safety, timely production, and compliance with budgets, ensuring the delivery of high-quality results.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Develop a detailed programme for day-to-day activities, look-ahead programme, and daily programme changes, including resources required and material deliveries.
  • Implement improved construction methodologies, alternative designs, and alternative materials selection to deliver the project works.
  • Monitor progress of the planned works, regularly review delay allowance status, and coordinate resources to ensure project works progress in conjunction with other section works.
  • Actively participate in the application of resources to generate a target programme based on the method, with a target completion that precedes the contracted completion by a suitable delay allowance.
  • Communicate the programme to all relevant internal parties and oversee the tracking of off-site procurement items against the programme.
  • Develop a "One Team" culture, ensuring site teams cooperate well and integrate effectively with the wider project teams.
  • Coordinate and ensure Graduate and Site Engineers are clear about expectations and provide regular feedback for effective performance.
  • Lead the development of Graduate and Site Engineers to ensure the development of their capability by identifying and addressing development needs of direct team members.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients and external parties, managed within the guidelines of the project code of ethics.
  • Seek, test, analyze, and evaluate the latest blasting technologies and make recommendations prior to implementation to ensure viability.
  • Provide advice on surface blasting practices to proactively alleviate or avoid any unnecessary problems and ensure statutory compliance.
  • Scrutinize, inspect, and approve blast block designs to ensure safe blasting practices and conformance to set standards and design Drill Patterns.
  • Monitor blasting activities, analyze results, and submit recommendations to achieve the desired fragmentation.
  • Generate effective drill pattern, tie-in, and charge designs.
  • Monitor and review data from drilling, explosive loading, and blasting to generate daily reports.
  • Produce Dip, Charge, and Backfill sheets.
  • Refine drill and blast pattern designs based on short/medium-term plans.
  • Ensure compliance with client policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Maintain a positive and productive working culture.

Requirements:



  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or a similar discipline.
  • White Card.
  • C Class Driver's License.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience working in the Construction Industry in a similar role.
  • Experience working on large-scale construction projects or other suitable projects works.
  • Demonstrate a positive "can-do" attitude.
  • Demonstrate initiative and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Ability to implement and follow through on multiple issues and achieve productive results.
  • Sound interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and targets and prioritise tasks under pressure.
