Senior Cost Manager / Associate Director (Mechanical & Electrical)

About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team in Canberra. As a Senior Cost Manager / Associate Director, you'll be responsible for leading the Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) specific deliverables within a larger project or leading direct M&E commissions, such as asset upgrade works.

You'll work closely with our clients to deliver projects and programs for Defence projects, establishing early budgets, early estimating, and cost planning, tendering and procurement, and post-contract duties. Your expertise will also be utilized to manage other Assistant Cost Managers and Cost Managers within the M&E team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead on M&E specific deliverables within a larger project or lead direct M&E commissions
  • Establish early budgets, early estimating, and cost planning, tendering and procurement, and post-contract duties
  • Manage other Assistant Cost Managers and Cost Managers within the M&E team
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices
Requirements
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality cost management/quantity surveying services across the full project lifecycle
  • Professionally qualified (RICS or similar) or working towards
  • Ability to successfully manage and prioritise more than one project at a time
  • Experience in delivering M&E elements of work for clients
  • Knowledge & contacts within the M&E supply chain (tier 1 and below)
  • Utilising digital software for delivery of cost management services
  • Commercially astute with good negotiation skills
  • Excellent people person and great communicator, both client-facing and team-based
