Job Title: Postdoctoral Researcher - Neurodegenerative Disease

We are seeking a motivated postdoctoral researcher with a background in neurosciences and/or neurodegenerative diseases, preferably including motor neuron disease (also known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, ALS).

You will be involved in the design, execution and analysis of studies investigating the mechanisms and potential treatment of motor neuron disease. You will perform and oversee work relating to the development and use of transgenic zebrafish models of MND, through use of your strong molecular biology skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute experiments to investigate the mechanisms and potential treatment of motor neuron disease
  • Perform and oversee work relating to the development and use of transgenic zebrafish models of MND
  • Analyse data and contribute to the preparation of scholarly publications

Requirements:

  • PhD in medical science or related disciplines
  • Strong background in neuroscience mechanisms such as mitochondrial function and metabolism
  • Demonstrated expertise in molecular biology techniques including DNA cloning, PCR, gel electrophoresis, western blots, and gene editing technology such as CRISPR/Cas9
  • Experience in using zebrafish models, cell culture models, microscopy, and general fish husbandry
  • Project management skills and ability to prioritise different work demands
