About the Role

Key Responsibilities
  • Autonomous Practice: Demonstrate autonomy, accountability, and competence to provide comprehensive and holistic health assessments, relevant to specialty, within an expanded clinical nursing role.
  • Effective Patient Care: Provide effective, autonomous, and accountable patient care that incorporates an advanced level of knowledge and skills in specialty, within the scope of practice.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Foster a clinical team culture of interdisciplinary collaboration, leading to improved patient outcomes, and engage in and lead clinical collaboration through clinical consultancy, collegial support, guidance, and direction to members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Quality Improvement: Coordinate and implement quality initiative activities against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and initiate, implement, and evaluate clinical research in specialty.
  • Education and Development: Provide education/advice to patients and significant others, develop education resources, and arrange specialized education as required, and collaborate with Learning and Development to develop, implement, and evaluate caregiver development programs in specialty.
  • Reporting and Representation: Report to manager each month or at agreed frequency against the agreed suite of KPIs, and represent St John of God Health Care at external reference groups and meetings as appropriate.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will hold registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency as a Registered Nurse and endorsed as a Nurse Practitioner with a postgraduate diploma or Master of Nurse Practitioner Degree. You will have a minimum of 5 years recent extended practice and advanced clinical skills in specialty, with knowledge and understanding of current trends in healthcare practice, research, and education.

You will have a high level of communication, liaison, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with a commitment to the professional development of self and others. You will have clinical knowledge, skills, and extended practice utilizing evidence-based practice, as well as a commitment to, and participation in, clinical and/or educational research and quality improvement.
