Public Relations Specialist Role

We are seeking a Public Relations Specialist to join our team at Natural Hazards Research Australia.

About the Role

The Public Relations Specialist works as part of the communications team to translate and promote the Centre's research program. The role is based in Brisbane, Melbourne or Sydney, with flexible working conditions available from these locations.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Create high-quality content across various formats, including media releases, printed publications, newsletters, websites, and social media.
  • Assist with the production of online content by sourcing, writing, editing, proofreading, and distributing research content.
  • Provide valuable input to the Centre's physical and online events.
  • Develop engaging visual content, provide photography and videography support, and track digital and media performance.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (communications, journalism, public relations, or related field).
  • At least two years professional experience and skills in communications and publications.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills to assist with the development of high-quality content across a range of formats.
  • Excellent organisational, team, and communications skills.
  • Experience in maintaining online content – text and images, web, and social media.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and Adobe Creative Suite.
