Academic Leadership in Psychology

Deakin's School of Psychology is seeking a distinguished Professor to bring high-level research expertise and academic leadership.

The successful candidate will specialise in any area of psychology, with clinical/mental health expertise particularly welcome. They will be expected to have a national and international profile, with a well-established track record of high impact publications and other outputs, effective team building and leadership, service to the discipline and a clear ability to attract external funding through both competitive grants and industry partnerships that aligns with the strategic research priorities of the School.

The Professor will interact regularly with other research and teaching staff within the School and the Faculty. They can expect to be an active member of the SEED Lifespan Strategic Research Centre and to collaborate with other researchers in the School, and more broadly in the Faculty and University.

  • PhD or professional doctorate in a relevant discipline.
  • Success in mentoring postdoctoral early and mid-career researchers (EMCRs).
  • Evidence of original, innovative and distinguished contribution to scholarship and teaching, research and research supervision.
  • Demonstrated success as an eminent authority at the national and international level in research and scholarship through high quality publications, and exhibitions as relevant to the discipline.
  • Sustained success in obtaining competitive external research grants, including category 1 grants.
  • Excellence in engagement with research, community, industry and government to enhance the national and international standing of the discipline.
  • Evidence of original, innovative and distinguished contribution to research and research supervision.
  • Registered psychologist (AHPRA). *Desirable
  • Experience in supervision of clinical research. *Desirable
