About the Role

VMCH is seeking a skilled and compassionate Cafe Disability Support Worker to join our team at our innovative cafe, 'Where is my Coffee'. This is a casual position that will provide support to individuals with disability in a real-life work environment, helping them to develop their job skills and independence.

About You

We are looking for an individual with previous experience in hospitality, particularly as a barista and cafe food and beverage preparation, presentation, and serving. Your customer service skills should be outstanding, and you should have a passion for working with people with disability. Previous experience in the disability sector is highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support and guidance to individuals with disability in a cafe environment, helping them to develop their skills and independence.
  • Work collaboratively with the Cafe Community Team Leader to ensure the smooth operation of the cafe and the delivery of high-quality customer service.
  • Assist with the preparation and presentation of food and beverages, and provide exceptional customer service to cafe patrons.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers, colleagues, and stakeholders to promote a positive and inclusive cafe environment.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge in disability support and cafe operations.

Requirements

  • Experience in hospitality, particularly as a barista and cafe food and beverage preparation, presentation, and serving.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a passion for working with people with disability.
  • Previous experience in the disability sector is highly regarded.
  • Certificate III Individual Support - Disability or equivalent qualification.
  • Current Food Safety Handling Certificate (or willing to obtain).
  • Current Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate (or willing to obtain).
  • Experience in providing personal care to individuals with a disability.
  • Evidence of relevant vaccinations, including flu vaccination and COVID.
  • Victorian Working with Children's Check, NDIS Screening Check, and Valid Victorian Driver's License.
