Job Title

A Principal Consultant position has become available within the Department of Education, Western Australia. This senior role is part of the Risk and Assurance Directorate, which delivers high-level audit and risk management expertise to support a broad client need across the Department.

Key Responsibilities
  • The successful candidate will provide assurance to the Director General and the Audit and Risk Committee that the Department's financial and operational controls are operating efficiently, effectively, economically and ethically.
  • They will assist management in improving the Department's business performance.
  • Additionally, they will provide a risk advisory function focused on helping staff manage risks effectively.
  • The role also involves undertaking a governance function for the Department's externally available policies and delegations.
  • Furthermore, the Principal Consultant will lead the delivery of policy governance or audit and analytics initiatives as part of potential vacancies arising during the pool period.
Suitable Qualifications and Skills
  • The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in policy governance or audit and analytics within a public sector or similarly complex environment.
  • They must possess a strong client service mindset with the ability to provide advice and guidance to staff at all levels.
  • A highly developed oral and interpersonal communication skill is required for high-level consultations and collaborations.

Eligibility Criteria
  • The applicant must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or hold a valid visa with work rights for the term of appointment.
  • A Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check will be conducted, and a current Screening Clearance Number will be obtained before commencement.
