About the Position

As an Animal Care Professional, you will interact confidently with individuals and groups, possessing strong time management and organisational skills. Essential qualifications and experiences include:

  • Previous experience in animal handling and welfare
  • Ability to work autonomously, problem solve, and use initiative
  • Physical fitness and ability to lift 20kg

Required Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must possess a Certificate II in Animal Handling or Animal Care, an unrestricted NSW driver's licence, and at least two years' experience in animal handling. Additional desirable qualities include tertiary qualifications in animal science or management, first aid certification, euthanasia technician certification, and microchip implanter certification.

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include managing staff training, coaching, and support, as well as developing relationships with local councils within the Hunter Region. This role also involves implementing initiatives to increase re-homing rates and rehabilitation, ensuring the shelter runs effectively, and making decisions regarding animal wellbeing.
