Care and Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Care and Support Specialist to join our team in Southern Tasmania. As a Care and Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with disabilities to achieve their personal goals and live fulfilling lives.
Possability is an Australian non-profit organisation providing quality support options, accommodation, employment, training, respite, and intensive support for people with disability and those with a history of adversity. The successful candidate will have a strong desire to make a positive impact on people's lives and be committed to supporting and promoting individual needs, skills, abilities, and personal goals. You will work effectively both independently and as part of a team to provide direct care and support services to our clients.
A current and unrestricted driver's licence is mandatory for this role. Relevant qualifications and experience working in Community Services are desirable but not required. We welcome applications from candidates who share our values and are willing to learn and gain qualifications on the job if needed.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Direct care: includes skills development, working towards achieving greater independence within the home and community, meal preparation, household shopping, ironing, basic garden maintenance, vacuuming, pruning, pet care, and other basic home maintenance.
- Administrative duties: timely and accurate completion of required administrative tasks and associated documentation.
- Behaviour support: effective behaviour support to individuals as established by our experienced Behaviour Support Practitioners.
**Requirements:**
- A current and unrestricted driver's licence.
- A strong desire to have a positive effect on people with disabilities and a commitment to supporting and promoting individual needs, skills, abilities, and personal goals.
- Understanding, ability, and willingness to implement Person-Centred Practices.
- Personal qualities of empathy, resilience, and patience.
- Ability to work effectively both individually and in a team environment.
- IT skills to use the Microsoft Office suite, complete shift reports, maintain a communication diary, program notes, etc.
- Sound communication skills – verbal and written.
- Effective time management skills.
- Desire and commitment towards working with people from diverse cultures.
- Good standards of professional behaviour.
