Job Overview

We are seeking a strategic and adaptable leader to fill the Program Manager Knowledge and Insights role.

The Australian Climate Service was established in response to the Royal Commission into National Natural Disaster Arrangements. It is a new virtual agency integrating data, models, platforms and advice to support natural disaster and climate risk management policy and operational decision making.

The Australian Climate Service has four programs that deliver services and uplift climate and hazard risk capability:

  • Climate Risk Assessment and Monitoring (ACS Integration Hub)
  • Data and Information about Australia (social, economic, built and natural domains)
  • Climate and Natural Hazard Science and data
  • Services for targeted decision makers (customised services and engagement to support decision-making for risk and adaptation)

We require a leader for Program 1 in the Australian Climate Service.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership for service delivery, program management, policy and decision-making advice, cross-agency coordination and best practice.

This role includes:

  1. Promoting relationships with internal and external stakeholders, community groups, business sponsors and service providers.
  2. Driving, managing and coordinating cross-agency collaboration initiatives, activities and relationships.
  3. Researching, planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating project or program initiatives within a section or specialist area.
  4. Reporting on program objectives, outcomes and work area performance for presentation to Executive.
  5. Overseeing and managing service providers, including contractors and consultants.
  6. Managing risk assessment and risk management activities for a project or program.
  7. Planning, managing and monitoring financial budgets for a business unit.
  8. Leading strategic planning with partners for longer term project initiatives and programs.
  9. Committing to APS Values, Employment Principles and Code of Conduct.

This position plays a crucial role in enabling the ACS to deliver outcomes and build the ACS capability.
